ANTI-SCRATCH LENS (HARD COATED) |
- GENERAL
- Coated with silicone-based permanent hard coating
- Coating will not wash off
- Protect against most solvents and chemicals
- Easily cleaned and sanitized
- Not affected by metalization (mirror lens)
- PRIMARY PROPERTIES
- Permanent coatings show no loss of anti-scratch properties for a minimum of two years
- Anti-scratch coating does not affect the optical characteristics of the lens
- Provide abrasion resistance to pencil hardness of 8H
- Completely unaffected by the following chemicals or solvents:
- Low and high molecular weight alcohol
- Glycol ethers
- Aliphatic and aromatic solvents
- Weak alkali/alkaline earth solutions
- Mineral acids and exception of hydrofluoric acid
- CLEANING AND DISINFECTING METHODS
- Wipe clear with a dry clean soft cloth
- Clean with soap (mild detergent) and water
- Pad dry with clean lint free cloth
- Disinfect with the following methods: (does not affect coating)
- General disinfectant
- UV light germicide chamber
- Placed at 100 degrees C for one hour

PRODUCT MATERIALS: POLYCARBONATE |
- GENERAL
- Colorless and crystal clear; amorphous engineering thermoplastic – notable for high impact resistance
- Originally developed for aerospace industry for use in windows of jets, space shuttles and face shields for astronaut helmets
- PC (polycarbonate) is very soft material allowing absorption of energy from an impact without cracking or breaking. The drawback of this feature is the tendency to scratch or craze easily; therefore, most PC lenses are treated with anti-scratch coating.
- Extremely light-weight due to its low 1.2 specific gravity
- Although seldom used for frame material, PC is more impact resistant than nylon
- PRIMARY PROPERTIES
- Optical characteristics:

- UV stabilized; won't become brittle and dry out after exposure to sunlight
- Filters out 99.9 % of harmful UV radiation
- Ability to add UV 400 absorber, giving extra UV protection for environments with high levels of ultraviolet radiation
- CHEMICAL RESISTANCE:

PRODUCT MATERIALS: NYLON |
- GENERAL
- Nylon frames are generally tough, strong, and resilient polymers
- Nylons offer high fatigue and good barrier properties
- Nylons offer good abrasion resistance
- They offer good resistance to greases, oils, and solvents
- The most common nylon used in safety glass frames is Nylon 6.6
